Postdoctoral Researcher in Computer Science
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in computer science for a fixed-term position at the School of Science and Technology.
Subject Area
The subject area for the position is computer science.
Background
ORU is involved in two EU projects, euRobin and Deploy-AI, which require reinforcement in the form of a postdoctoral researcher.
Responsibilities
The employee will participate in two research projects related to the connection between robotics and AI. Responsibilities include daily project work with meetings, deliverables, and practical tasks such as programming robots, as well as pure research work such as writing scientific articles and participating in conferences.
Eligibility
Eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher is someone who has a doctoral degree at the time of employment or has a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. Primarily, candidates with a doctoral degree that is no more than 3 years old at the time of application will be considered. The applicant must not have been employed as a postdoctoral researcher for more than one year in the same subject and at the same university. The position is initially for at least 2 years and can then be extended for an additional year. If the person has been on parental leave during the employment, the employment will be extended by the corresponding number of days. In case of absence due to illness, the employment can be extended.
Assessment Criteria
The assessment criteria include the ability to inform, collaborate with the surrounding community, and promote the utilization of the university's research. Additionally, the suitability of the applicant will be evaluated. Suitability refers to the applicant demonstrating the personal qualities required to fulfill the relevant tasks, the ability to collaborate with other staff, and the ability to contribute to the development of the organization.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the applicant's ability to contribute to future developments in both research and education. Demonstrated ability and willingness to pursue an academic career are also important.
Since the employee will participate in two research projects related to the connection between robotics and AI, it is of utmost importance that the applicant has a strong interdisciplinary background in robotics and AI. More specifically: (1) competence in AI and automated planning, HTN planning, task allocation, visual language models; (2) competence in robotics, specifically in reactive execution, behavior trees (BT), and robot navigation in challenging environments; and (3) documented practical experience in integrating autonomous robotic systems where multiple functions are combined into a unified system and evaluating autonomous robotic systems in simulation.
The candidate must have documented experience working in an international environment and with EU-funded projects. Excellent proficiency in English is required.
